Fairhaven is a town in Bristol County, located on the South Coast of Massachusetts. The town shares a harbor with the city of New Bedford, a place well known for its whaling and fishing heritage. Fairhaven's history, economy, and culture are closely aligned with those of its larger neighbor. It is the site of the Fort Phoenix State Reservation, which was used by American troops both during the American Revolution and the War of 1812. Fairhaven is home to 13 commercial lobstermen landing 78,350 pounds of lobster annually.
