About Beverly
Beverly is a suburb of Boston and is known as a merchant and fishermen town. Beverly is home to the first ship commissioned by General George Washington during the Revolutionary War. The privateer Hannah, a 60ft. schooner armed with guns and cannons was fitted out in 1775 and sailed from John Glover’s Wharf in Beverly under Captain Nicholas Broughton. Beverly is home to 22 commercial lobstermen landing 822,118 pounds of lobster annually.
